Gambian army Major Seedy Joof, has been arrested, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Major Joof got arrested last night at his Kombo, Lamin home by Jammeh’s assassin team called the jungullars. He was whisked away to an unknown destination.
Major Joof arrest has to do with an alleged statement attributed to him that he made calls for Yahya Jammeh to reconsider his decision and peacefully hand over power to President elect Adama Barrow. He is said to be Barrow’s loyalist.
When contacted for comment, a close family member of Major Joof confirmed the arrest. She said Major Joof was picked up last night by unknown men. The family said she doesn’t know the exact whereabouts of Major Joof.
In another development, similar arrest were made in different army battalions across the country last night. Officers suspected to be loyal President elect Barrow are being rounded up at this hour.
