Mr. Malick Jones, a former disco jokey (DJ) and Permanent Secretary, has been appointed the Director General of The Gambia Radio and Television Services. Mr. Jones, replaces Lamin Manga, who fled Gambia, a day after the Presidential elections. Mr. Manga has since arrived in Russia, where he now lives.
Mr. Jone’s appointment came into effect on Friday, according to sources. He is third GRTS MD to be hired in a span of two months. Momodou Sabally, the then MD of GRTS got fired and detained during the election season. He is still under custody. He was replaced by Lamin Manga, who is now on the run.
Outgoing dictator Yahya Jammeh, is expected to hand over power to President elect Barrow in January. He lost the election to Barrow.
