Armed soldiers, who have taken over the offices of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) have been withdrawn from the premises, Freedom Radio Gambia can reveal. As from this morning, there is no security presence at the IEC election house. The place has been deserted by the security officers deployed there earlier last week.
Our reporter visited the IEC office, and found that the deployed soldiers have been withdrawn. The IEC remained closed for business. The Commission’s staff have not been reporting to work due to the closure of the building.
The government declined to comment on the latest development. Some of the officials contacted in the Jammeh regime for comment declined to comment on the matter.
